Blogging for the Less Fortunate

What if a blog post can actually help underprivileged children by providing them back-to-school material like books, stationery, uniforms and much more? Or perhaps give these underpriviledged children a "fun" time by throwing them a movie outing sponsored by United International Pictures?

Well, these will certainly become a reality if we bloggers like us blog and share the news around. This time,
AMBP is supporting Rotaract Club of Kuala Lumpur's Project: "Gift a Kid" in their effort to raise funds to buy back-to-school material for the 2009 school year, to 100 underprivileged kids, aged between six and 15 years.

The children who will benefit from this effort are those from Rumah WAKE 1, a home for HIV+ children and their affected siblings as well as children from Sekolah Rendah Jenis (Tamil) Cheras, where by many of these children from this school are come from the surrounding low-cost flats and squatter areas. Most of them can’t afford school uniforms, let alone school fees.

So how can we do to help this children? Well, you can sponsor a kid, from as little as RM10 to the full pack of RM150 by contributing to Rotaract Club of KL or via
The Star. A small step from you goes a long way towards giving these kids’ a better future. If you can't contribute money, you can at least blog for these children. By doing so, you can send one of the underpriviledged children to the movie, giving him/her a good time.

"
Let us pray together for a better future for these underpriviledged children"

Jamie..is she in the lotus position? well anyways back to your post Love it and love the idea of people giving to their own, the problem around here is people think hence they have that others have, which is not always the case! But the attitudes to education here is not very many embrace it! where as on a few shows I have watched African children happy to receive any school supply's as well as the one laptop per child project(http://laptop.org/en/)
It sounds like a really worth while and noble cause you have blogged about I hope you can at least turn one or two people into contributors to such a project!

Jamie: 1 laptop per children? Wow, that's a costly project. But who's gonna teach them how to use it?

Sadly, there's a lot of beggar syndicates out there. Using kids and disabled people to beg for money. Conmen I would say.

Curryegg: Yea, you going for the charity carwash too?

Hi Jamie,
Thanks for supporting Project Gift A Kid by blogging about it! =)

We'll be visiting the kids of Rumah WAKE 1 (the home for HIV+ kids) this Saturday, Dec 20 at noon. If you're free and in KL, do join us. Drop me an email at rotaract_kl@yahoo.com.sg if you're interested so I can send directions.

Cheers!
