Motivational Quote from Rocky Balboa

Sometimes I do wonder why my dad never let me watch boxing movies like Rocky. I've always heard about the sequels since childhood, Rocky I, II, III, IV, V and Rocky Balboa. The thing is that I never knew how the stories were like besides boxing. Lately, the Rocky series have been playing on TV. Too bad I didn't know about it until a little later on, that's why I only got to watch Rocky IV and V.

After watching them, I realise both stories were actually good. Not about the boxing part, but more on the values in the movie. Like for Rocky IV, a Russian boxer, Drago actually killed his best friend, Apollo Creed in the ring. After Apollo's death, Rocky travelled all the way to Siberia to fight Drago, not for revenge (he could have killed him, but he didnt't) but to prove the possibility of friendship between Americans and Russians by forgiving and forgetting.

In Rocky V, he retired from boxing after receiving severe brain damage from the fight in Russia. At that time, he took up a student, Tommy Gunn who he trained into a champion. Because of the attention and time spent with his student, his relationship with his son became distant. One day, after being betrayed by his student, only he realize how important his own family is to him (the only thing that counts) and started paying attention to his son once again like a true father should do.

For the last sequel, Rocky Balboa, I didn't get to watch it yet, but I saw this quote in wikipedia from him which I find very meaniningful. =D

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain't you. You're better than that!"

Wow, what a quote, eh? Got to watch it someday, anyone have the DVD? =P

Jamie wonders why you got an "eh?" is there a little bit of Canadian in your past "eh!"
people say a lot about the rocky series and make jokes like rocky 99 where he is in a wheel chair and headed for the ring to fight! But come down to the meaning and some of the quotes it actually had a lot of heart to it! besides being an American feel good movie!
